Card Shop Dossier
Chronicle Feed
Each visit day below comes from the DB-backed LCS log, while the narrative content still renders from the original chronicle MDX.
I've been meaning to get back to Cardboard Legacy on the hunt for the last card I need to close out the 1989-90 Fleer basketball set, because they have 7 or 8 boxes of baskeball that hold hope for me. The shop owner thought they might have a dozen or so of them if I resumed the chase.
Yuppers, we are chasing the goat to close this set out. Fun!
Before we go on the chase for mike, I couldn't help but take a detour into the $1 bucks for my true passion project. Let's see where today's haul puts me on the tcdb rankings lists:
- michael redd, ranking: 3rd (225 cards)
Oh, quick detour into creating a divider for redd. As part of a years long project, when the spirit strikes, I reorganize the reorganization - sometimes creating a divider card with tcdb snapshot data drawn on it.
TL;DR: this is the first time I have logged him into my database and he moved from this box, to that box. A better box. Not the final box though. Carry on......
- big dog, ranking: 5th (485 cards)
- malcolm brogdon, ranking: 1st (148 cards)
- bobby portis, ranking: 1st (125 cards)
- joe ingles, ranking: 9th (55 cards)
- krhis middleton, ranking: 2nd (410 cards)
- damian lillard, ranking: 8th (239 cards)
Oooooh! Binder time. We've almost filled up a whole page of white donte in 2020-21 Donruss Optic. Always extra nice to open a binder to take a look see.
-
donte divincenzo, ranking: 2nd (141 cards)
Time to dive into 10 boxes and a few thousand cards......as the chase begins.
Oh! So close. Alas, akeem is not, the dream. Well, he is, it's just in this case, he ain't.
How about some last box magic!??!?!?!?
Nope. No magic. I bet they had every single jordan from 1989 through 1993 - except, the only one I was chasing today.
As a consolation prize, I grabbed lulu's GOAT: a 2nd year king james.
- lebron james, ranking: 40th (177 cards)
All in all, fun chase. I ripped through a few thousand cards, with no luck, but a lot of pluck. lol
I would have given this trip a full 10/10 rating if I had scored what I came for. -0.5 points for the failure to secure his airness. Still, this is probably, pound-for-pound, my favorite LCS in all the land.
I've got another idea on how to snag the card that brought me here as the chase continues.
Anywho, while you may have your GOAT, and the
bride to be definitely has hers, there shall be only one freak. - giannis antetokounmpo, ranking: 1st (983 cards)
I decided to sneak a four day weekend into the mix so with no george to get in the way, I decided to head over to a local card shop and to have a quick visit with an old friend.
- giannis antetokounmpo, [1st] ↗️ (1018 cards)
- jordan nwora, [1st] ↗️ (90 cards)
- marjon beauchamp, [1st] ↗️ (99 cards)
- dame lillard, [9th] ↘️ (257 cards)
- milwaukee bucks, basketball [1st] ↔️ (7360 cards)
Before we get to the old pal - while I was waiting for him at the shop, I hit up the bucks box. I found twenty eight bits of fun tucked away just waiting for me to scoop 'em up.
Great shop. Probably my favorite for a few different reasons.
One of those reasons? The aforementioned wiscopullz. I connected with him on their discord and have been a loyal, if sometimes flakey, customer for a hot minute now. He hooks me up with bulk on the cheap and I hook him up with capital. Our LCS is the spot to do bidness.
While derek is my bestest friend to have given me a decent chunk of my collection, wiscopullz has to be in the overall lead of total cards acquired from one individual. Right now, I'm at 124,076 cards loaded on the site and after this batch, I'll be near 140k cards (guesstimate). All that to say, I bet 30k, if not more, are straight from wiscopullz.
It's been too long old friend.
PS......I been telling you I flip bricks internationally, and now I'm here to tell you I flip bricks out the trunk too.
PSS......a shit ton of work just showed up. Eek.
