Mar 30, 2026: the chase
I had my first team meeting with the entire crew for the first time in almost a month this morning. Vacations, travel, all-day meetings, and illness have kept us from joining up like Voltron. Plus, a new gentleman that officially starts next Monday, unofficially joined the meeting. He's an internal transfer and we are excited to have him.
Anywho, I used the opportunity to give a bit of a state of the union speech. It was written shortly before the meeting (just bullet points), mostly freestyled live and direct from there, and was quite good if I do say so myself. It was good practice for the wedding.
The chase begins.
Whole lotta mail day today, starting with an easy, pull, pack, and ship for Clay.
Nice simple, 2013 Topps Opening Day quickie. I might say yes to just about any deal that's quick and clean like this, regardless of what's coming back. Didn't hurt that Clay was quite generous with his offer on our 16th deal.
Top 5 trade partner.
PS......what an unfortunate picture for matt dominguez.
Here's a deal where the chase intensifies based upon what I'll receive back. Jerry came through clutch for me on deal number......1? It would appear this is our first deal together.
Noice! Welcome aboard.
I love me some Rickey almost as much as Rickey loved him some Rickey. RIP.
Plus, 1989 Upper Deck is pure nostalgia directly into my veins. Whole friendships sprang out of the beauty that is this junk wax.
Rencher came through clutch on this deal. When I get the other end of the deal back, the chase concludes. At least on one tiny branch of it.
Always have to shout out the king james a sighting. Plus, I love the look and feel of those 1995 Fleer Metal cards - it's always a little bit sad to see them leave like this. lol
Deal number six with a trade partner who came in clutch when I asked them too.
Time to shift to what arrived a few days ago and finally sorted today.
When I first received this trade offer, I wasn't looking to do a bigger deal like this, and I was about to turn off trading again. I still haven't turned off trading yet. lol
Point being, then I saw just one dame time card with a bucks jersey on it from Rob's trade list, and I was easily convinced.
Ended up making a dent in a few sets along the way:
- 1990 Pro Set 729 of 853 (85.5%)
- 2015-16 Donruss 155 of 250 (62%)
In the end, I'm pleased I took a second look before declining. Now, if only I could stop the chase and get these trades turned off again.
As I thought about what to call today's blog, I thought about the thrill of the chase, which then had me thinking about an old favorite......
There's quite a bit of the previously mentioned nostalgia packed into this song. I got goosebumps as I listened to it and let the those old feelings wash over me.
The movie and nikkigirl. The song and the abbott.
1998 is so damn long ago.
The Chase.
