May 10, 2026: dear mama
I continue to spend the majority of my free time reorganizing my basketball cards (most of 'em at least). It's largely a base card adventure that scratches my set collector itch. It also helps to keep my hands and feet busy; all while letting my mind wander.
One box "complete" (🫠🫠) and another started.
Most of my best ideas happen with a wandering mind and some cards in my hands.
As I improve the organization of my set collector self, I often run into the need to open up space in other boxes to help find room in the box I'm currently working in. Point is, that forces me into my PC boxes and the best cards of my favorite people. It's two ideas that merge into one - eventually.

First favorite up for fixin'? The alien. The second and third photos are of the first wave of an idea that eventually became this site. That divider I created made out of cut up cards and other supplies probably has the most inside jokes you'll find on one of my homemade dividers. Including, but not limited to, this inside joke.
Good one to show up on momma bear day.
The next fella that needs to get moved from this box to that box to make room for another box that eventually can't be this box......
- kobe bryant, [101st] 🆕 (148 cards)
I have mixed feelings about black mamba showing up on mother's day. First, he probably sexually assaulted a woman; not great for a day designed for the ladies. Second, he was a girl dad who seemed to be a genuinely good girl dad. Third, he's no longer with us.
All of which must make this a terrible day for the mother of his remaining children is what I'm trying to get at.
Anywho, my kobe collection is kinda sick. Nothing outrageous, and still plenty cool to walk through. Shouts to jeff meff who gets to display many of the best ones.
Last up, we have ron's boi.
- tim thomas, [5th] 🆕 (177 cards)
So, yeah my mom (more to come there) took all of us kids to a milwaukee bucks playoff game that also just so happened to be the greatest game of tim thomas's life. Coincidentally, it's also the most memorable basketball game I've ever been to in my life.
These three player's just randomly showed up today. All with stories attached to moms.
Huh.
Low key day with nikkigirl on her made up holiday designed for commerce. lulu and p-funk stopped by with fern, so I'd say that wins the day for the #1 momma bear in the house.
Oh, and I fixed a dryer that wasn't broken for her. lulz
This song always make me think about my mother, and not just for the obvious reasons. It's a song about a troubled woman raising a troubled child. We fit that mold. lol
I haven't ever been a good son for my mom. She had to go through it - all while I was going through it. Sure some of "it" was her fault, but much if it was outside of her control. I was destined to be a troublemaker and I used to blame her for my troubles more than I do today.
At scale, she's the majority of the reasons I am who I am today, and I also struggle to remain connected to her in any real way. My brothers and sisters carry me here. I love them for that.
I've saved her life. She's saved mine.
I live with regret.
