Sep 30, 2026: nature preserve

Day two of the leadership summit at a local nature preserve continued......culminating in a 30 person team speaking to their 2027 strategic goals. My team also happened to be the last team to speak, and if you've every contributed in something like this, by the time it got to us - the room was dead. Two straight days of big picture kumbaya can eventually wear on a person.

My strategy by the time it got to me? Make 'em laugh. Make 'em all laugh.

Nailed it.

Part of the day two plan was to close a little bit early and while a decent batch of folks headed down to the bar three blocks away from my house - I decided to move differently. And by move differently, I mean......bonus time with the gullster!

Let me walk you through a typical solo session with my best pal:

Come home / Come up stairs

He freaks out

I sit down in the living room leaning against the couch

ya boi uses me as a staircase and climbs on the couch

He licks my face, chews my beard (literally chews on it), cleans my eye sockets and ear holes

Eventually he gets bored (sometimes it's a fifteen+ minute process)

Once bored, he runs into the kitchen to grab a toy

We play fetch until he gets bored

Sometimes he starts the face thing again

Oh? New boredom and new toy

If left alone long enough, we may have a half dozen toys in the mix

Also, at sixth on the tcdb rankings for peter, I've pretty much peaked where I will naturally. If I wanted to break into the top five I'd have to really lock in via eBay or card shows because I have mostly soaked up the cards I can with my natural trade partners.

About a week or so ago nikkigirl says to me (I'm paraphrasing): Wanna to go Target? I'll get you anything you want.

Now, as the love of my life, I know she means cards, because have you seen how obnoxious I am about them yet?

Long story short; I check out the cards and I was not inspired to buy anything. I have a certain mental calculation that frames whether I buy a box of cards or not and that day's particular calc said......no cards.

Here's an interesting story about Target though (at least to me), they recently have started to move all of their trading cards back into the toy section and as I exited the toy section I saw a lego set that I have had my eye on and the rest is history. Or about to be history.

This bad boi is a four bag set and I hope to run through at least a bag a day from here.
