Right now ya boi's robot, cipher, is off learning the best way to implement my next idea. They are going to come back and ask me 3 clarifying questions aimed at making the idea better before we generate the code itself.
After I heard anxiety-filled-crippling news that I was going to have to have my shit together on Monday, and before I found a Moment of Zen, I finished cleaning up my man cave workspace. I found the work notebook of my last master, eh, employer:
I swear on Big Baby Jesus' life that I opened it to this page:
On Valentine's Day 2024 (shout out to amber), I met with my boss and told him exactly what I wrote down here:
Those words, word 4 word. I followed that up letting him know that if I had to follow the lead of the exectives in his leadership room to gain a seat at his table, I wasn't sure if I would be there much longer. Keith doesn't have a James problem, James has a James problem.
The last time I walked into that building 169 days later, I told him that I bet he didn't remember me saying it, and that unfortunately for him I meant what I said. As out of the blue as my exit was, I always shot him straight, and frankly, I only have fond memories of him personally. I wouldn't be where I am today without him.
Even though the deployment was unsuccessful yesterday and no content was
actually available, I'm going to give myself some grace and keep the running
count active. I wrote plenty yesterday god damnit. 🫠
We need to pause your regularly scheduled program to directly address the most important person in the whole wide world, lulu. She has threatened to never read my blog again unless I interact with her comments. Here we go:
Why yes, my sweet daughter. This is all your fault. I try to do my best to never hold a grudge, and yet, you might be the exception to the rule. Thanks for nothing.
I've been meaning to do a few things with comments:
Trigger an email to me when someone comments
Add the ability to reply to comments
Automatically delete your comments before anything else happens
Alas, nobody is perfect. Even the dad you never really had. I hope that you will learn from my mistakes and that you never live to see your child disappointed in you the way you are with me today.
It's 2:53am and here I am typing away. I've come down with a bit of a cold, can't sleep, and rather than toss and turn in bed, down I head to the man cave. nikkigirl needs her rest more than I need my comfort.
I'll probably catch a few more zzz's before work, but maybe not. Might be a long day today.
I don't think I'll contribute much today. I'm behind on laundry, and my brain
could use a good washing too. Maybe I'll hop in with the underoos and wash the
shit away across the board.
Today's gonna be a walk through self reflection, the work that's been done so far, and how it's been done along the way. The vast majority of numbers to be discussed happened within the last 90-120 days.
First up, 660. I'm up to 660 total tasks logged into my Jira project planning software, with 582 having been completed. Some of those 78 unfinished items are dead ideas, and I'm working on cleaning up and/or reusing tasks where possible. Since re-joining the workforce, I've also slowed down on how much I'm planning ahead so that number is also naturally dwindling.
scroll amendment · 2026-03-15lulu translation: I plan ahead and track my work as much as possible.
Outside of the planning and tracking, there's also the doing. Within this same timeframe, I've merged 320 pull requests, consisting of 1,149 total commits. Here's how that's been spread out:
Within those commits, here's the breakdown of how much code has been added or removed along the way:
The week with largest spikes both up and down? That's when the blog hatched itself. It could also be considered a visual representation of my manic tendencies. Not to suggest I've been diagnosed with anything - which is only because I'd never sit with someone long enough to diagnose me......lol. I digress.
scroll amendment · 2026-03-15lulu translation: I'm diligent, dedicated, and I will do something thousands of times in a row if it speaks to my soul.
Last but not least, and perhaps the most fun to me - what languages am I using?
scroll amendment · 2026-03-15lulu translation: When I talk to the computer, sometimes I have to speak to it like it's made up of different parts of that world to get things done. Sometimes I speak French, sometimes I can speak English, and sometimes I have to speak Spanish to it. But like, TypeScript, MDX, and SQL instead.
100 releases is a big deal for me. 660 ideas is a big deal for me. 1100+ commits is a big deal for me. On my birthday, I committed (pun intended) myself to getting better. These are the numbers that prove to me that I am doing what I said I would do to myself.
Me, myself, and I.
Please check out the Alter Ego Origin Stories on the homepage if you would like insight into what it's like when I talk to myself and robots.
Ok, technically this is the 97th release because there is a bug/error somewhere in my process and IDs 85, 90, and 95 were skipped, even though it should not theoretically be possible. I think I know what causes it, and there's plans for better - even still, mistakes were made. 97% ain't too bad though.
Point being, we are celebrating #100 regardless of how true it actually is. Seems to fit the times we live in. lol
nikkigirl has started to actually read my chronicles, and now quite helpfully, is starting to report bugs. Beyond that, I haven't done a great job of testing on mobile and optimizing to address this form factor.
Anywho, long story short: I removed the small black border around the mobile version of the blog to allow for the content to use more of the mobile viewpoint. Everything breathes a bit better on mobile now, particularly when a "ReleaseSection" has a border to highlight planned releases, bug fixes, tcdb trades or otherwise. No more borders, on borders, on borders.
I've got a few areas to address still, a few of which center around photos. donnie was the first to report an issue with the image carousel in the comments a while ago.
A few other cosmetic bug fixes were included in this release:
The tcdb trade border didn't always show up on mobile
The shaolin scrolls release schedule section sometimes covered up text
While waiting for puzzles to cure and ideas to solidify, I also continued the
clean-up of the site to fully utilize the new PersonTag component
developed yesterday.
During clean-up, I touched an infinityStone; I'd recommend you do too. Not sure what an infinityStone is? Follow the instructions on the homepage. I promise you they are simple in nature.
BTW, I've added a fourth bracelet from eeeeeeeemma to the mix. This one is a little tight, which actually helps me to control some of the others that are a bit looser. It's a whole thing. lol
We'll close with one more section after this, and before we jump to the next, let's take a moment to look at the photo dumps of it all:
That's just the pics of the supplies I snapped along they way, starting with the palette left over from my last painting project, the lost series. See 2 of the 5 I have written about in blank canvas and water. Blank canvas is when I formalized the "when" of the idea I will close with.
These are the bits leading up to the final product. Mod podge is so fucking sexy.
When we take a beat to think about where tullyelly.com even comes from, like literally comes from, we realize it's from nikkigirl's vagina. In record time I might add. I think she pushed for a total of 10 seconds with lulu and I'm not even exaggerating. bonnibel didn't take much longer than that. She is an absolute beast.
tully[bonnibel] + elly(lulu) = nikkigirl holds the strength that built the actual core.
As part of the never ending mission to release MVP (minimum viable product)
every single day, things get lost, I get annoyed, bugs exist, typos show upe
(hi nikkigril.......)
scroll amendment · 2026-03-07
Yes, that typo was intentional. That one too. Instead, we paused because it's nikkigril's birthday weekend and here's a chance to let her know that I love her. With all of my heart.
Oophs, is that another typo?
Point being, the thing I am building is intentionally fluid. I try to let the ideas be random, and then the strucuture I overlay over said ideas are used to let the entire application evolve along with me.
Each day's content is intended to be static at the time of conception. I also never hesitate to tweak and enhance said content, even after release date. I'll never forget the drama when kanye west released the life of pablo and started to tweak it after it had already been released. In the digital era, artists could now evolve digital content in ways that physical goods can't, and kanye, did so. Famously tweeting:
I'd point to the tweet itself, click into reddit to see an image, but he also famously has gone off the deep end and scrubbed his accounts multiple times. As someone who has gone off the deep end and scrubbed his life clean more than once - I have more respect for this level of insanity than most.
This was a very long winded way of saying that I found yesterday's rainbow wasn't behaving as well as I would have liked on mobile, so I fixed it. Mobile problems? Sounds familiar.
