Last weekend, I added a component that would store the snapshots of set collection completions stats in the backend, and standardizes what is display on the front.
<SetCollector set="1992-courtside-draft-pix" />Pass the set, combine it with the date of the chronicle and it'll pull and display that date's snapshot. I enjoy seeing the evolution of it, all of it.
Check out the timeline of my first example: 1992 Courtside Draft Pix.
Iterate.
As part of my deal aaarrt, he hooked me up with a few vin baker cards and I went to work reorganizing his section of my personal collection.
Well, well, well......look at this old divider I made more than two years ago. Two years ago feels like a lifetime ago. There's so much fun in my vin stack and because he's number six on my most basketball cards for any player list, it took awhile to get through his stack.
He's also the reason this chronicle is titled alcoholism. There a hell of a good story in there, an he's lived a hell of a life. Good on him.
Plus, he could hoop.
Forget what's in the archives, I'm starting to fall behind on inbound trades. I love to trade, I love to build trades, I love to say yes to all trades that come across, and then before you know it I've got a giant pile of cards in a corner somewhere.
Anywho, strong offer from Joe. Lotta set collecting goodies.
Topps Gold! Topps Gold! Topps Gold!
We'll close the deals for today with my bestest pen pal, Art. He sent a note along with the deal and got nikkigirl a little bit teary eyed. Ok, a lotta bit teary eyed. She has big feelings, you see.
Art's been underselling this deal, saying it's a bit underwhelming, and I do not agree! Some highlights:
Really though, Art is a class act and he never disappoints.
We continue to inch towards closing a few different sets, and none are more prominent right now than the 1992 Courtside Draft Pix that's coming down to the final few cards.
I'm pretty sure I've got the last two cards I need to close this set lined up in another deal that should close this week.
Shouts to Matthew for helping me to get to the brink of a final closing deal.
Next up, we ship some cards to Anthony in shaolin (Staten Island, duh).
Mostly basketball, with a sprinkle of hocky mixed in. Mostly shiny. That must mean we get cool stuff back!
Deal number four begins.
27 cards, all the same set? Must be back on the hunt.
Oooooh, we inch closer. I might have to pivot to this set as my next set to close. The remaining 14 cards I need should be fairly abundant and have multiple trading partner options. Theoretically.
Fun!
Here's the deal we pulled out of the archives. I needed a 500 count box, and one of the trades I hadn't fully processed was in a 500 count box. Let the sorting begin.
Look at that - the marvel set is tantalizingly close to being completed. Didn't I just have another nother set to try and close? Regardless, I got through the non-sport, football, and hey, one basketball card! There's still a bunch of hockey to finish processing from this box, but here it is bedtime already.
Shouts to our friendly canadian neighbors from the north, especially Nathan. There's typically something interesting on the other side.
We end the night finishing off some work that began yesterday. Hockey night!
256 hockey cards in need of some sleaving and serious sorting.
👀 Only one card left? 👀
PS......it's playoff hockey szn. mcjesus is on the screen as I type. Few things are better than playoff hockey.
GOAL! 1-0, Oilers.
Up next we'll grab of the mail day pile and who do we find? Brent, with deal numero five.
How about the spanish version of an early fan favorite, lee mayberry? Yes, yes please.
Hey, the newest member of the double digit club is here. Deal numero ten in the books.
I almost forgot to snap some photos of this one. In any case, muggsy bogues was a five foot three inch brick house, and steve young was the QB for the era . I enjoyed both peaks.
Tonight's first deal is the fifth overall between Luke and I.
I turned these 42 cards into two outbound PWEs (Plain White Envelopes), and there's a bunch of fun basketball in there. Plus, a minor amount of baseball cards, and one football card. Stats.
Detroit Basketball. While is one of may least favorite superstars of all-time, I still respect Detroit Sports, especially the . Except . lol
I'll close the day with this deal bettween Josh and I, who side note: is currently, or was recently, hospitalized. He sent me an lol or two and I didn't pry into severity, so I believe it was more routine maintenance than anything. Let's send some of that good energy from Clay across the multiverse and over to Josh.
You know where patience is not something to be tested? With my trade partners, that's where. Let's catch up with logging some cards into my systems.
el-producto? superman? Some + ? Plus, a bunch of Optic Holos? Clay hooked me up and his generosity is well appreciated.
Today's deal kicking us off is a medium sized one with the added bonus of numbered cards and autographs going both ways. Looks like this is only the second deal between Eric and I.
Do you think the fact that all 59 cards on the way out are pacers cards means anything? Perhaps a fan? lol
I enjoy turning a numbered baseball card into a numbered basketball card. 2015-16 Donruss - Elite Extra Edition Production Line #24 LaMarcus Aldridge numbeed to /194 ain't half bad.
Guest appearance by someone who's been a house guest.
There's a whole lot going on in this relatively small trade. Can't help but shout out the bucks when they show up.
Oh? A pit stop into the binders? Let's add to the 2020-21 Hoops binder. Fun.
The real of the jewel of the deal lands here though. This is what I was chasing, and this is what got me that much closer to closing out this set.
Hell of a deal.
Dustin is helping me on a few different fronts. I bet you can't wait to see what the return looks like.
Fun deal.
While the Mosaic set was had me come knocking at Josh's door.......
.....it was our hero the greak freak and his milwaukee bucks pals (for now) that brought me the most joy.
Get well soon.
I'm going to take his positive vibes from this evening and pay it forward as soon as I'm able.
2023-24 Hoops Premium Stock - Blue Disco Prizm #107 Jarace Walker numbered to /99.
2023-24 Panini Prizm - Prizms Blue Ice #67 Bruce Brown numbered to /125.
2025-26 Topps - New Applicants Autographs #NA-KO Kam Jones being the autograph going out the door. Autos are few and far between, so any coming or going adds a little extra spice to the deal.
Thank you, sir.
If you didn't click all of the examples, here's an example within one of those examples where I finally got around to dropping off Eric's trade and while I typically like to take a photo of my usps experiences......today I forgot.
I did snag me some fun stamps though.
As I was updating topps secret to incorporate the new usps functionality, I got distracted by another opportunity and refractored the LCS route. As I continue to develop the site I've tried a few different approaches and at this point, I'm liking how the backend is coming together.
Schema, son.
Anywho, it now looks like this:
<ReleaseSection alterEgo="cardattack" lcs="cardboard-legacy">I'm also enjoying the fractured nature of the site. There's the continued pull of moving forward intertwined with the requirement to work backwards through the content to keep it up to date with today's standards that keeps me on my toes.
Bad ideas need to die quickly. Mediocre ideas every which way you look. All while the overall picture fills in nicely.
Seriously though, go checkout LCS to give me a click and a dopamine hit. Maybe I should go check it out on mobile. I always forget mobile. lulz
Iterate.
I've got 10s of thousands of cards from previous trades still in their original packaging. Today, I pulled an old trade from the archives and processed it. Because I don't have both sides of the transaction to log against, I'm only loading one side of the deal (what I received) and labeling it "archives", which will then mark the deal "completed", because it already is. From there, a few other minor features were touched up, and the component was tightened up just a bit.
A fuck ton of cards need to be pulled from the archives and fully processed. Lotta work there, ugh.
Lazy day wandering through the collecion, sorting, pulling, moving, and then doing it all over again.
Looks like one of the sides of my favorite purple marker is on its last legs. This, oddly enough, forces me to reconsider a previously developed process. Oh what will I ever do?
Any 90's refractor, particularly one with the bucks logo on it, is pure gold: 1994-95 Finest - Refractors #158 Lee Mayberry
The slow process of reprocessing continues.
For a variety of reasons, it seems like I should like flash more than I do. And yet, I still don't. Or rather, he's mid.
I do have a couple of RCs though! HOFers welcome.
Oh, and he's doing the play-by-play for this wolves @ nuggets game that's on right now. Pulling for the wolves and it's tied at the half, game 1.
scroll amendment · 2026-04-18wolves lost. 🏀⬇️ 0-1I took another opportunity to extend the ReleaseSection component and added United States Postal Service visits into the mix.
<ReleaseSection alterEgo="cardattack" usps="menasha">This new usps prop combines with the date of the chronicle along with the city, and uses a new backend schema to deploy a variety of content.
Did you click the examples? I said, did you click ALL the examples?
