Jul 09, 2026: end of an era
Entering day 3 of our 4 day tournament, I've become a bit emotional. As I watched noah yesterday I absorbed just how much better he is at volleyball than when he entered high school, it was hard not to be awash with various emotions. His mom and I even had a nice little moment celebrating it (very rare).

When he started volleyball some 3 (ish) years ago, he was not to be trusted with the ball. In any circumstance, lol. Then, I blinked, and now he's serving at nationals.
I don't know how tomorrow will end. I just know that when it does, the sweetest boi I've ever known will be about to enter his final year of high school. It's the beginning of the end.
I tell myself that this end of an era is just the beginning of a new one. I've only got so many windows left to open though. Each one closing starts to creep in on you over time.
Did I do enough with this window's breeze?
meffod man really has built a whole steam engine out of a single grain of salt. He shows up every day, puts in the work, and his last year will be his best. What more can you ask of any man?
As for me?
And I would like to be able to continue to let what is inside of me
Which is, which comes from all the music that I hear
You know, I'd like for that to come out
And it's like, it's not really me that's coming
The music's coming through me
The music's coming through me
Enough of being a lil' bitch with so much tears in my eyes tho. No offense to any crying bitches out there - real recognize real. Don't be so sensitive; except when you should be. Ya dig?
Cripes, come and save me robot. What's on deck?
cipher saysAdd a report that shows how large the site’s images and media files are becoming. This gives early warning before the repo gets too large or hard to manage. With all of the images I produce here, my current approach is 100% not sustainable. Well, with the size of some of these data centers going up these days, maybe sustainable is relative. All that to say, before I hit 365 straight days of chronicles (170!) I need to find a better image solution.
In the meantime, what does it look like today? First the new tooling:
npm run assets:report
npm run assets:checkThe outputs:

Asset size check passed.cipher has some aggressive goals as to when I need to solve the images problem. Not sure I like it.
Don't get it twisted tho, please and thank you to my future overlord.
What does his highness see as next?
cipher saysDocument how blog tags and related content details are automatically created from writing files. This makes the authoring process easier to understand and safer to change later. This fucking guy, amirite? He's pretty much told me that noone else could easily contribute to the site without some advanced training. Oh yeah? Well, what of it?
Sir, yes sir.
The last change we agreed to up from is about to pop off:
cipher saysFind and clean up old shortcuts, debug tools, and legacy scripts that could cause confusion or risk. Anything that stays should be clearly marked and safe for future work.A bunch of files were touched here. Not surprising, lotta dead ideas laying around here. Can't wait to get back to making it worse again.
And so day three begins.
Alright volleyball Gods, let's get this one out of the way early.

Today we started off by dispatching MVP Academy (Florida) by taking the first set in a nailbiter 27-25, followed by blowing a 6 point lead to give up the second set 23-25, only to come storming back and dominate the final set 15-5.
jeff meff was on service as they won the first game. He checked in, they got up 26-25, he rotated to serve, took a deep breath and dropped one in. His bois took care of the rest.
Well played.
Next up, one for me. I haven't updated the README.md file on my repo in awhile. Well, it's been updated, but not specifically targetted for cleanup.
Let's roll.
README.md updated. Boring stuff. Move along.
What a wild second match. There were dramatic 6 and 7 points swings both ways. Speaking of......
One more time for those in the back.

In the first set they came back from down 18-24 to sneak away with a 27-25 W and then jumped out to a big lead in the second set, only to lose it on a 9-0 run by Team Rockstar.......and then returned the favor to win 25-23. Wild swings. Lotta tight buttholes.
We're still in this thing.
They closed the evening playing Uno Volleyball Club and they had firm control of the match from jump. A pair of 25-22 and 25-17 W's will take us into the gold bracket tomorrow.
Let's fuckin' git er dun bois.
Tough.
