On day two of the Badger Region Championships we started off with Southport, and after a slowish start, they cruised through each set to victory: 25-16, 25-15 (2-0).
These bois absolutely destroy the ball. We put it on 'em.
jeff meff got quite a bit on run in the early match, and he took advantage of all of his opportunities.
While he's still learning how to line up his body with the strike, he'll go up and get one if he has too. Fun image.
Sam and the crew took on once again, and after inexplicably falling behind 1-8 in the first set, they ran the table for another victory - advancing to the championship game: 25-20, 25-13 (2-0).
I cannot believe they trust this guy with any kind of scorekeeping. He'd be the first to admit that might be a mistake. And yet, we love him all the same. Wait......
......it happened again......

To close the day, our heros took on Club W for all the marbles. Well, spoiler alert, they were Club L today. It was a tight and intense match throughout, and also one that the bois controlled just about the entire time. Champions: 25-22, 25-21 (2-0).
Plus, let's do it for the 'gram.
There's coach giving squad the congratulations they so richly deserve. I thought last year's team was fun, but this one is shaping up to be my favorite yet. They genuinely love each other and I love them for it.
We close the tournament with me, the immortal man, and the new icon to be used whenever our heros return victorious, covered in glory.
Turns out I had forgotten to update the new optimus function to point to the right folder.
Resolved.
In addition to that minor cleanup, I also converted the volleyball tournament functionality in ReleaseSection to use the database backend instead.
From this......
<ReleaseSection
alterEgo="unclejimmy"
tournamentId={2}
tournamentName="Dale Rohde Tournament"
tournamentRecord="3-0"
>
Tournament update content here.
</ReleaseSection>......to this......
<ReleaseSection
alterEgo="unclejimmy"
tournamentId={2}
tournamentDate="2026-02-22"
>
Tournament update content here.
</ReleaseSection>Besides being slightly more efficient on the front-end, it allows for all kinds of additional functionality to spring up off the back-end. The custom trophy that's added when the bois win a championship is one example.
Plus, more database = more fun.
Halfway through writing about our glorious day, I realized that I needed to finish the overhaul of my optimus function, because the photos being in different spots (legacy vs new), worked everywhere except the image carousel. That meant a quick update to 1621 files.
Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. No more legacy media - cipher is fucking good.
Iterate.
