I'm tired. Song profound.
Now see, that's liberation and, baby, I want it
Tonight's album/song is a simple way I like to frame anyone that isn't currently working with me in a positive direction......let god sort em out. I have a pretty good approach when it comes to working with those that want to work with me while also making sure the naysayers (so to speak) never get too far from the overall mission.
Even the most toxic amongst us deserve to be heard. Do you have a goal? Let's talk about how we get there.
👆🏾☝🏾☝🏾👆🏾 I mean, come the fuck on. The message. The marketing. The choice to perform this song at the grammy's. The snow falling. How much it fits into the message of my current [redacted] mission. Soooooo far ahead......
They don't know what it is when I'm on it
But once they figure it out, I don't want it
So far ahead, you wishers are behind
Behind
You can't see it from where you sitting (shit)
PS......I am a sucker for a choir. I loved singing in the choir when I was in grade school and I was super obnoxious about it. All while singing about the G.O.D.
lulz, what a shit stain I was/am.
The brewer game is keeping me up late. Perhaps I make sense from here (or previously), perhaps I don't. That goes for the entire site BTW.
As for today's nonsense, I had some story time with nikkigirl and we both had interesting stories forked off of the idea I'm laying out for you here digitally.
Point being, just shy of five years ago my brother ryan caught himself a bad case of covid and in the height of it, I sent that text above.
That's my broseph.
Brother, I don't want you to die
Brother, can you live forever?
Brother, I don't want to cry
Oh
Can you live forever?
Can you live forever?
Oh
When I say I spiraled tonight, I mean spiraled. I can go to very dark places with a surpising velocity. On such a bright and sunny day even! How dare I.
I got sad and thought about this song.
At which point, I immediately turn that frown upside down because I remember sad affleck and joy returns to my soul. Thank you, ben.
Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence
I agree. lulz
I am a little bummed out tonight. To get over the blues of it all, I leaned into the monotony of it all - starting with a new view that will help me to identify which homies belong to which clans. Check out the basic routes, and then the specific examples that I filled in some gaps against:
So yeah, database work. While it may bore you, dear reader, it hits the spot for me all the same.
TL;DR: I added homies (members) to some of my favorite bands (clans).
Tonight we close with a piggyback off of last night's night owl, and continue with a bit of a tribe called quest as we maraud after midnight (more than I should). While not one of my favorite tracks on the album, for every story I tell here, it always feels like there are 8 million more available......we mauraud for eyes.
Help me out y'all, help me out now
Help me out y'all, help me out now
Help me out God, I really need ya
Help me out now, I really need ya
Help me out y'all, help me out now
I'm having problems, help me out now
Really need ya, to help me out now
Help me out y'all, help me out now
Help me out y'all, help me out now
Help me out y'all, help me out now
Help me out God, I really need ya
Having problems, help me out now
Help me, help me, help me, help me, help me, help me
Help me, help me, help me, help me, help me, help me
Help me, help me, help me, help me, help me, help me
Help me, help me, help me, Muhammad!
I closed the night with the new jay-z & rick rubin documentary:
I've got a bunch of jay-z takes, but that's a not now problem. The best part of the first episode of the eight part series is that his mom went by lulu and put that name on all of her vinyl. What a cute name that is.
To close the evening I would simply like to note that I am still on some darkman type shit (your fault eeeeeeeeemma). What a star studded album for 1998 me. Shouts to dj muggs.
Yo, it's the Heist of the Century, kid, we execute right
We goin' down in history, get the loot and live life
How it's meant to be
A stolen legacy, live Egyptian mystery (Word up)
So eeeeeeeemma stopped by the live from the garden group chat and asked what's the right wu-tang clan album to begin her discovery in. Now, what happens in a group chat should stay in a group chat. There's exclusivity to all of my clubs if I can help it.
After you click that link, you can come back here and I can let you know that her question led me to this album, and then more exclusively, this song.
Before we get into the song though, our favorite artist also recently sent a video of someone explaining that stankface is scientific truth. This beat is perma-stankface.
Shouts to 4th disciple. Don't sleep on 4th.
This chronicle won't end as a happy chronicle though. Not right now at least.
There's a fifth disciple that I don't speak on much here. We have no relationship. I'm scared to try. I'm overwhelmed with even thinking about trying. I live with tremendous regret.
I love my son. I don't know how to express it. I beg silently for forgiveness.
C'ause all God children need traveling shoes
Catch the jewel
I had planned on using diggin' in the crates as the name of today's chronicle and then I asked cipher to find me an album that best fit that idea and......an album I would have never considered popped up. With an even better title for our chronicle as the first song that kicks off said album.
The ditc collective wouldn't be one of the first wave of artists I grew up on to pop up in the chronicles (as proven by the actual chronicles), and yet, they weave so deep through the core of my teens and twenties that listening to this album is like slipping on a warm glove on a - you can continue the cliche and terrible writing in your own head.
My morning with this album was one of life's unexpected moments. All from one word: crates.
Ya boi tullyelly, still diggin' in the crates.
While I'd normally end the blog there, I'm writing this portion in the morning where my inspiration and time is in abundance. I haven't posted a playlist in a hot minute, but here's where the rest of my day will go from here:
Special shouts to big l.
It's been awhile since I used the playlist component. If you were to hit play there and let it run, it'll play all those albums for you. Pinkie swear.
Remind me to make improvements here later.
To close the night we'll share my quarterly music recap over on YouTube. I released a shit ton of functionality around this idea today......but it is so late.....
Earlier today when I was much more on point than I am right now I had so much more to say on this topic. Instead, we will pick this ball up tomorrow.
I wonder where it goes next? Do you know?
PS.....almost forgot. It's been raining since I returned from Las Vegas. Hello title. Good night you.
It's raining, he's changing
My man is going insane, insane
It's raining (Past sunlight, more gunfight)
So here's how we landed on the name of today's chronicle - tom brady is part-owner of the raiders and when I think of the raiders, out comes Raider Ruckus. From there, Raider Ruckus leads us to this banger to close the chronicle (IYKYK):
GET THE FUCK UP!
Simon says "GET THE FUCK UP!"
Throw ya hands in the sky (buck buck buck buck buck!)
Queens is in the back sippin 'Gnac, y'all wassup?
Girls, rub on your titties (yeah)
Yeah fuck it I said it rub on ya titties
New York City gritty committee, pity the fool that act shitty
In the midst of the calm, the witty
My apologies for all the titty talk. All respect due.
As I was explaining to nikkigirl on our road trip, the next song and chronicle title came from the same adventure last last night. I hit random on the ol' YouTube and last night's chronicle, living proof, played back-to-back along with the song tonight. First, I had a story about life. Then next, I had a story about this rapper I love dissing me direcctly.
Plus, flygod!
Need for you to distinguish all the ringers not none of them crackers that make blogs
In a past life I had another version of this blog, now long lost to time. It was on a WordPress site that was a precursor to what you are reading today. All that to say, this is not the first time I have blogged about the song we will close the evening with.
In this past life, I remember driving somewhere - perhaps to a local card shop - and crying my eyes out to this song thinking about my family. I was inspired, wrote some shit about my squad to tell them all just how much they meant to me, and sent off a link to share my experience with those I said nice things about. I bet I have a backup of that somewhere in the cloud. I should go try to find that at some point maybe.
Anywho, I also saw the war on drugs perform this song in concert and cried to it. I've shed a tear to this song dozens of times I bet. I'm writing this section of the chronicle with this song on repeat and the feels hit me again. Misty eyed me.
If you scroll back up to see me with my squad you'll find living proof that anything can be repaired. Anything can be accepted. Everyone can be included (whether they like it or not). It's never me, always we at our table.
When I listen to this song - I promise we are almost there - I find my emotions take me different places every time it happens across my eardrums. Tonight I felt pride for a squad I help to facilitate every single day.
Banging on a drum
You turn me lose
Maybe I'm the living proof
What have I been runnin' from?
I went down to the corner
They're building at my block
Maybe I've been gone too long
I can't go back
Oh, lonesome
I will protect
I'll keep improving
Taking me home
I'm always changing
Now I suppose
I'm only moving
I'm in Chicago
Come to me now
I know the path
I know it's changing
I know the pain
The pain you've been feeling
I've been to the place
That you've tried escaping
I can't recall
What I believe in
I'm always changing
Love overflowing
But I'm rising
And I'm damaged
Oh, rising
Ooh
Today was a day for random music. As part of that random playlist, consecutive songs built a narrative in my head and for you here, my audience. These songs played back-to-back-to-back while I was on highway fourty-one earlier today.
Brainiac.
I'm inside of my own head too much for my own good. Brain songs!
The depth I could take the idea of mind games is a deep......uh......depth. If you are a loyal reader you know by now that I'm always playing mind games. Mostly with myself. You might also have noted I need you help me pull myself out of it every once in awhile.
I'm sure john lennon could say it better than I:
Love is the answer
And you know that for sure
Love is the flower
You gotta let it, you gotta let it grow
This next song starts off in grey matter, and then pivots to the explicit.
I could take this time to note just how much of a woman can be unlocked simply by exploring her thoughts......but alas, my children are present.
Instead, we move on to the next.
I can't escape myself. As a direct counter measure to me always being there, I build myself up to be calm. I am calm. I am calm because I build myself up to be. This wall is high enough to prevent you from seeing the chaos within.
Anxiety, keep on trying me
Feel it quietly, tryna silence me, yeah
Anxiety, shake it off of me
Somebody's watching me
It's my anxiety (prrr)
I can't tell if this next shout out is a reach or not. Drop a comment to let me know what you think. lulz
I logged in tonight to a corrupted git database. Since I'm washed as fuck, any time things are not automagically working inside the project you are reading right now, I get nervous it might take me forever to fix because I'm half the man I used to be. Sadly enough, I don't do this shit for a living anymore. Happily enough, I'm learning that might not even be what I am really good at anyways.
Anywho, cipher came along, told me what was wrong, assured me they where the right person for the job to fix it, and went ahead and fixed it for me. Shouts to the robot masters. Phew!
I'm half the man I used to be
(For as I feel as the dawn, it fades to gray)
Well, I'm half the man I used to be
(For as I feel as the dawn, it fades to gray)
Well, I'm half the man I used to be
(For as I feel as the dawn, it fades to gray)
Well, I'm half the man I used to be
Half the man I used to be
Half the man I used to be
A few weeks ago I started to experience illusions, and realized that maybe no rest contributed to this mental state of disarray I often find myself in. Meaning, I was listening to a lot of cypress hill for a few days there.
That's the proof I wasn't fibbing. Wink.
If you follow that brief click adventure you will see some key contributors to my joy and mayhaps you might find a smile or two. At least I did.
All that so say, I fell down the same rabbit hole again tonight.
When I tell you this might be the best three-man-weave in the history of man, I could mean it. The beat, the spanglish, the baton being passed back and forth, and I'm floatin' along the beat right along side of them.
You don't want to turn your back on me
When you least expect it, I come with a wicked method
I'm creepin' on ya
Thinkin 'bout your homeboys bleeding on ya
I 💗 waxahatchee. There's not much more to be said other than that this obsession should be obvious at this point.
I have a gift, I've been told, for seeing what's there
Take it easy, honey
Catch me toeing the line
Lost in a role I play
Stuck in a video game
Armed with a safety pin
Overly confident
My skin is airy thin
But my game is rigged to win
Tonight, I'm writing in reverse order. It's a bit later into tomorrow than I normally see and I intentionally didn't think very much earlier today. That means I haven't pre-developed this narrative like I normally would. I'm closer to the moment.
Counterintuitively, while I was too busy thinkng about nothing, I thought very deeply about that nothing in particular. I thought about how little I've enjoyed my life. I thought about how little I've enjoyed my life and how that taught me to appreciate what I do enjoy. Even then, as I reflect on that appreciation I can't help but see the emptiness inside of all of it.
Like I said, I'm up past my bedtime so you'll have to forgive my aimlessness. I get bored and wonder.
Intentionally.
