I haven't been this deep in thought for a hot minute. This is both an indicator that I am starting to feel better and also a symptom of the pure, unadulterated, frustration I experienced today. I'm at my wits end.

Good news: I do my best work while at my wits end.

Here's the thing though - it feels like I'm trying to solve this puzzle by first having to learn the accordion. Here I am pulling and pushing, while also trying to play the piano as I ride on my clownish unicycle.

Or something.

So here's the closing thing, after a day of travel where I returned pretty tuckered out, I didn't get a chance to recharge before I was in charge of a couple of little ones. Even then, I didn't sleep well, and was woken up early by those needing to be entertained. No rest for the wicked is my point.

While this song doesn't fit the good vibes of the day (despite what my whining might indicate), the word rest led me to this chronicle title and ultimately, this song. cypress hill absolutely destroyed ice cube on this song, and honestly, I never thought of him the same way again after this one.

Maybe there will be rest tonight.

The fucking hip hop store was not open today. From what I saw through the window......I missed the fuck out. What a fun little miss and imma be back.

I've talked about joining a revolution or two over the past year of writing these chronicles, and fuck if this isn't the first revolution I would join up with.

As someone who's lived with me my entire life, I can assure you:

As I taxied on a Chicago runway, running behind schedule, the exact right music landed. The big Google Algorithm in the sky said it was time for mac miller and I went for a ride.

The concert ended at cruising altitude and frankly it couldn't have been better timed. I was bored, and then I wasn't. Now here we are, together again.

To close the night I'm compelled to not that very once and awhile I think about a gentleman I terminated roughly 5 months ago and wonder how he's doing. It was terrible timing on multiple fronts.

I hope he is doing well.

I bet I watched nirvana on Total Request Live, or whatever it was called at the time, with derek a hundred times. At least that's how my old man brain remembers it.

We close today with the movie I watched after mah baby went to bed. We had some later than expected nights and we are typically pretty spent after a weekend of being the cool aunt & uncle.

Speaking of dr. uncle ryan, The Prestige is the first movie I think of when I think of him.

I closed the evening, well besides this closer here, by watching Raiders of the Lost Ark. Because this movie came out when I was 3 years old and I've been it's target audience (idiot boy) the entire time, it feels like this movie is one of my first memories. One of these indiana jones movies at least.

It's so ridiculous. It's also seared onto my brain.

So here's the thing: at sixteen years old, I was a complete idiot.

In a lucky coincidence, 1994 was also when Speed hit the theaters.

If memory serves, I saw it in the theaters and then also received it as an x-mas gift. VHS is king.

It also was the perfect turn my brain off movie to close this evening.

To close my born day, we shift to our anniversary.

Well, before we get there: I don't like to celebrate. Never have. So much so that I will plot and scheme to get (re)married on my birthday to eliminate half of the celebrations. Theoretically at least.

Part of being anti-party is to zig when others zag. Who doesn't love to celebrate? Strategery aside, the value we place on arbitrary dates just doesn't interest me much.

This will be a hard pivot from that to this (lulz)......I've been married five years today. Plus some more. I couldn't even tell you the actual total. Well, I have the paperwork so I definitely could tell you the actual total. Still, I won't.

My ride or die also just so happens to be my partner in crime. I'd rather nikkigirl enjoy this on the random day she reads this than the actual day it's all about. In truth, every day should be that day.

PS......this coming from the guy who's trying to chronicle for three-hundred-and-sixty-five straight days in a row like that means something. Take everything here with a grain of salt.

As I got to packing up the first trade above, I briefly lost my favorite purple tape. I guarantee my favorite purple tape has been in dozens of photos of cards logged here at this point. While we are on the topic of tape: Fleet Farm is my favorite place to buy tape, specifically my favorite purple tape.

For the record.

All that to say, purple tape made me think of the purple tape, which led me to play the album that's in the argument for greatest album of all time. Maybe the most influential, at least to me, if nothing else.
