I let the algorithm take control and this next song, and more importantly this album showed up shortly after.

It's bangers only status when this song enters the chat. On an album about uplifting you and the community around you, for the first/best song to be so paranoid about the world around it: I fit right in. I learned at least 2% of everything I know from the dungeon family.

Today we celebrated cal's birthday at my dad's house with a bunch of folks. He was very much enjoying driving his bony elbow into my ribcage. He's a savage. 🫠

In any case, my mom wasn't well on his birthday while she was staying in MN so they didn't stop over to WI to celebrate his birthday like they normally would. That worked out well for us (sorry mom) because now we could actually attend the party today.

More good family time.

Kids to me are a fountain of youth. If there's one secret to my success with children: it's that I act their age. Within that framework, I challenge their world view inside of a circus tent. They return the favor and challenge mine.

Speaking of tony starks, as per usual I popped the headphones on to close the night and wu-tang took over.

Some of the people that came together today come together more rarely than all 10 members of the clan (RIP odb) do.

If I was going to summarize these chronicles into a single artist I admire most: it's aesop rock. I almost never have any idea what HE means, and I always kind of learn something about myself along the way.

Yo! Again! What if I told you that I thought of this entire idea while I was going through my workday and homeday. What if I told you that when I actually put pen (metaphorical) to paper (metaphorical) I was listening to an entirely different song/album? What I'm trying to say: shout out to clipse.

Today's chronicle ended up about goodie mob. I'm not just being a blowhard if I tell you that I could write about......EVERYTHING from this era. The peak of this atliens chapter of my life is infinite. Endless content.

I'm lingering a bit tonight. Since I'm by myself, let's slide the cans over my ears and see where I travel tonight.

Ever since a$ap's new album dropped, my first favorite album of his has stayed in heavy rotation. I'm fully washed so liking new things gets harder with every passing minute. I'd prefer to return to the familiar and sit with it for the thousandth time. There's always more.

In any case, at right around the two minute mark of this song (a slow wandering track), he flips up his flow and it gets me every time. I wish I could make words flip and bounce like that.

Yo, there's levels(lvl) to this. On everything.

One more reprieve before we get too boring though......which actually, depending on how lame you are, might still be boring for you. I pride myself on avoiding judgement (impossible at scale) so you are safe with me. Some of us were born like this.

This is the second time I've dropped this song into the chronicles. The first appearance can be found here, appropriately enough: triumph. Revisit that one to be bombed atomically. If you ain't up on socrates philosophies and hypotheses you might have an incurable case of born this way.

When I put the headphones on to begin my day, this was the first full song to cross the ear portion of my minds eye. It reminded me of the lil uzi vert anecdote I forgot to mention yesterday - so here we are.

While I'm not a religious person, I'm surrounded by it. Who isn't tho? As I age into whomever this is, I find myself being less judgemental about all of it. I even let it speak to me to see how it feels.

If I'm in the sun or particularly sad, I'll always bust out some beach house. A little bit of dream-pop lady singing hits all the right emotional spots for me, particularly at the extremes.

Today is the 15th anniversary of the release of Section.80. eeeeeeeemma was three and jeff-meff was two when this album was released. There's a bunch of family memories tied up in this album for sure. Not all of them happy ones either.

Pure. Certified. Banger.

As I sit here by myself, I grab the headphones, pick up my phone, and hit play.

When I'm alone (at least when I'm not working), I rarely can sit with my own thoughts in peace. I have to have some rapper in my ear spitting dense rhymes at me, some woman singing to me and soothing my soul, or an NBA podcast there to drown out the noise upstairs. I can't bear myself, and then you also never know the magic of this word plus that word leading to more words. Better words. Better ideas.

All that to say that when I hit play today, the right song showed up at the right time. My two oldest linking up, at our house, in my safe space, to collaborate and solve each other problems.....is me. Me through them. A better me.

If I've learned anything in my nearly 48 revolutions here, it's that even in my darkest hours: all is full of love.

You may have noticed I've finally been giving the kiddos the paintings I made for them two x-mas times ago. Refreshers if you are playing ketchup:

Point being, early in the creation of these paintings I was so disappointed in the quality of them, I had a bit of an emotional breakdown. Okay, a massive emotional breakdown. And then along came bjork.

I don't think it's exaggeration to say I listened to this three dozen times to snap me out of that funk. I was four months into unemployment at that point, and I think all that emotion might have had more to do with than just these paintings. 🫠

She healed me.

Almost exactly a year ago, I went on a walk, listened to this album and wrote a whole blog post where each song was somehow related to my former employer. It's honestly some of my best work, I'll never forget it. Well, except for the chronicle - that bad boi is long lost.

Maybe one day I will get this entire story told.

Back to my girls, here's how I feel at work......

......most of the time.

I write about the challenge of it to cleanse myself of it. If I release it here I regenerate for the next wave of good and bad. Yin and yang.

Hopefully, we find more of the good of it on the next pass. Ya dig?

Ya'll know my mojo so dope kids. You were day one. We been on this shit and they just catching up.

Because it was a late night and my brain is generally running on empty, I decided to find a song that embodied the feeling I'm holding this evening and grab that as the name of today's post.

I don't normally post the fan fiction videos and would normally prefer just the static photo as opposed to fan art like this, but this particular song and this particlar creation will live with me forever.

It's interesting to consider a day where so many nice things were said about me that when I reached into my feelings, this song, and it's message is what I reach for. In truth though, there's always been two ways I've always felt alone......

First, inside of my own mind. Whenever I attempt to translate this feeling inside of me to the grander world around me, I'm almost always immediately met with silence. My perspective (my full perspective) is often so far out of left field that even when I get a response, it FEELS like silence. They didn't get it. They didn't hear me. How was I so misinterpreted?

None of this to say that I consider myself particularly special or above anyone. Just different. For those that stick with me through the thick of it, I think I do a pretty good job seeing you for you. Maybe even better than you do sometimes. Without judgement. Acceptance. Togetherness.

Which leads me to the second place I end up feeling so alone. I've got a wide net. My ability to support a wide ranging, often times rotating, cast of characters is one of these proverbial my strength ends up being my weakness type situations.

There's an internal pressure I feel. Daily. Paradoxically, I feel very alone in these kinds of moments. The more I put myself out into the world, the more I see how much people need me, and the......

I listened to this song on repeat for a lot of times tonight as I wrote this. I'm not sure that decision helped with the clarity of today's message or not.

I do so much to avoid admitting I'm special that even writing anything as if I am feels isolating.

All along.
