In closing, I said to myself earlier today: self, listen for a song to drop at the end of today's chronicle.
This one is for you, you.
Everything's changing around me
And I wanna change too
It's one thing I know
It ain't cool being no fool
I feel different today
I don't know what else to say
But I'm-a get my shit together
It's now or never
(Now or never, now or never, now or never, now or never)
This one always comes straight out of left field when it lands.
Pure beauty.
We'll close with a jam. This song, this album, it's beautiful to me. There is a purity of feeling here that always strikes my right chord.
I'm tryna tell my folks that flowing ain't easy
Traveling down this yellow brick road until it frees me
I need a pen, I need a pad, I need a place to go
To get this shit lifted off of my soul
I find the path I am walking on right now to be very narrow. Very narrow indeed.
I'm too far inside my own mind at this point. As noted in my recap on Friday, that silent reflection started Friday afternoon, and has not ceased in the meantime. I often find myself trapped upstairs fumbling around in the darkness, simply trying to find my way out.
Not sure how I'll go about it, but something needs to be shaken up this week. I've realized that I need to humble myself, re-open myself back up to the universe, and let what happens next emerge naturally. Trust those around me. They will show me the right way forward.
scroll amendment · 2026-06-07nikkigirl just turned to me and asked: are you alright over there? When I get too deep inside my own head, you can audibly hear it. My Mind Playing Tricks On Me, if you will. Not so silent with my reflection after all. lulzWhat is this collection of chronicles, if not but a recap of my life. How overly dramatic is this writing? lulz
I'm not surprised that waxahatchee rules the roost of my last quarter. I adore her sensibilities.
It's also no surprise that my vibe would be: dramatic + reflective + in your feels.
Keep striving.
If you put a new life into my care I try to be a positive-force-multiplier. Not perfect. But positive all the same.
Point being, take it away gravediggaz.....
This grym reaper verse spoke to me just as strongly 32 years ago as it does today. That's a pain I walk this earth with every single day. At least 32 years worth.
[Verse 3: The Grym Reaper]
Makin' gravy pays my rent for the day
Some hate the image that I must portray
Critics say, "Go to Hell", I go, "Yeah
Stupid motherfucker, I’m already here"
Frustrated, mentally aggravated
To be the rebel that society created
I’m good most times but when I’m foul, then I’m flagrant
Livin' in the shadows like a government agent
For a child or a new puppy? I find the joy.
Positive

Constant
Elevation
Same spirit. Different outlet.
Ladies + gentlemen, the gravediggaz.

I took an exit ramp off the bonnibel music journey and took a bit of time to focus on the road paved for me by dan the automator.
The blue flowers chronicle from yesterday reminded me that dan produced the entirety of Dr. Octagonecologyst. This 1996 (my woulda been graduation year) album kicked off an insane 5 year production run by the automator.
Have a problem with me? You can call 1-800-PP5-1-doodoo.
Next, we fast-forward into 1999 and so...how's your girl?. Somebody was like, let's record prince paul calling biz markie and asking him to sing like the bee gees. Flipped it, indeed.
I'll annoy nikkigirl with the skits from this album......all......day......long.
Also, I wrote more about this album during a very difficult time for eeeeeeeemma and her supporters. Difficult times often call for mindful practice.
This is the second chronicle to reference this song and this album. The first was named, appropriately enough, deltron 3030. Released in 2000, this album takes place in the futuristic 3000's - as does the Dr. Octagonecologyst album from above. Time travel and aliens are real.
Who's that? The mastermind. First we coerce your brain patterns.I'd like to think that when I'm using my powers for good my ability to coerce your brain patterns is a net positive. Upgrade your grey matter, because one day it may matter.
This is the first album I will reference today that I haven't written about somewhere in these chronicles before. Think about the future when I link back to this chronicle at some point in the past......tomorrow comes today.
The gorillaz show up within a year of my first child doing the same (2001). bonnibel has pretty much been listening to this album since the day she was born. bonnibel helping me to remember that dan the automator produced the first gorillaz album......tommorrow comes today.
In one five year stretch, dan the automator partnered with kool keith, prince paul, del the funky homosapien, and damon albarn, and took some of the most eclectic human beings you will ever find.....to a whole 'nother shared universe. That's the first five years of rza and wu-tang clan levels of nuclear inspiration.
He changed my world.
On my best days, I like to think I've changed his.
I continue to follow the open mike eagle adventure that bonnibel put me on.
kool keith has some of the most distinct art you will ever come across.
As I told the group chat, that is underselling it. Shouts to dan the automator.
I agree.
After I dropped off nikkigirl at work (eeeeeeeemma's car is in the shop again and she's got my car), I crawled back in bed and watched the following video. I've written about these Twelve Jewels before.
wu-tang forever.
I said, "A wise man don't play the role of a fool
The first thing a man must obtain is twelve jewels
Knowledge, wisdom, understanding to help you achieve
Freedom, justice, equality, food, clothing, and shelter
After this, love, peace, and happiness"
As noted in the introduction, this song is speaking to me today all while, hey bonnibel, here's another album on the journey you started for me that has be going through it.
Ayo, the world plants seeds in my mind, strange fruit
Survivalist, basing my life on rap loot, it's the truth
Ayo, the world plants seeds in my mind, strange fruit
Survivalist, basing my life on rap loot, it's the truth
The world plants seeds in my mind, strange fruit
Survivalist, basing my life on rap loot, it's the truth
Ayo, the world plants seeds in my mind, strange fruit
Survivalist, basing my life on rap loot, it's the truth
PS......speaking of nikkigirl, this album was one of a handful that got me through our divorce and those dark times. Actual lifetimes ago.
I didn't mean to hurt you
I'm sorry that I made you cry
Oh no, I didn't want to hurt you
I'm just a jealous guy
Today's short punt into tomorrow is brought to you by bonnibel. She recently discovered an album I was in love with 20+ years ago.
While I'm not here rhyming, I'm certainly stumbling over words that......something. Dear kiddos, pay attention, class is in session.
Pure rap music ain't made under pressure
Expose a jewel, teach school at my leisure
Fumble over words that rhyme with a verse divine
I backtrack and think of the greatest of all-time
Class is in session, master this lesson
Teacher was a student, studied like a Buddhist
Reviewin' on the best to do it
So let's do this
Nothin' to it
Tonight, I'm starting with the ending and we're gonna stick with lil yachty for another day.
The next bit of content is me picking up an idea mid-thought.
I'll close with a song off the album for which this post is named. This might be the most reference song and album on the site right now. There's a few clean-up projects that need to occur before I can report with more specifics.
I never got the chance to dance to this song at lulu's wedding. (rhyme high-five)
Even so, you can always start. No matter where here is.
Homeland and Hip-Hop
To think about the origins of hip-hop in this culture
And also about Homeland Security
Is to see that there are, at the very least, two worlds in America
One of the well-to-do and another of the struggling
For if ever there was the absence of homeland security, it is seen in the gritty roots of hip-hop
For the music arises from a generation that feels, with some justice
That they have been betrayed by those who came before them
That they are at best tolerated in schools, feared on the streets
And almost inevitably destined for the hell holes of prison
They grew up hungry, hated, and unloved
And this is the psychic fuel that generates the anger that seems endemic in much of the music and poetry
One senses very little hope above the personal goals of wealth to climb above the pit of poverty
In the broader society, the opposite is true
For here, more than any other place on earth, wealth is so widespread and so bountiful
That what passes for the middle class in America could pass for the upper class in most of the rest of the world
Their very opulence and relative wealth makes them insecure
And homeland security is a governmental phrase that is as oxymoronic as crazy as saying military intelligence
Or the U.S Department of Justice
They're just words, they have very little relationship to reality
Now do you feel safer now?
Do you think you will anytime soon?
Do you think duct tape and Kleenex and color codes will make you safe?
From Death Row, this is Mumia Abu-Jamal
From the depths of the seeeaaaa......
Somehow, one of those michael jordan cards led me down a clean-up rabbit hole that had me consolidating the garbage I collect into some boxes. It's always boxes with this guy.
Long story short; I've been keeping the envelopes from all of my trade partners (garbage collector) for awhile now and it just became time to invent a box to hold them. That led to some coloring of gay rainbows. Shouts to the gays.
This box is also fun to me for a few reasons, examples: jeff meff + effective immediately.
The main reason though? jeff meff and I have a cold war going. This war centers around WHO gets the boxes from the cool shoes that he gets (most of which are supplied by me). He lost another battle with this box, but not before he autographed it for me.
Great kid. The boxes are mine. GTFOH
