As part of strange plan I've begun to develop, we land on an old trade I need to process so my goals may advance. Twas a long and winding journey from there today (as partially highlighted by george's sexy ass pictured above).
That was a hell of a fun throwback deal with Jack that we closed out on tcdb one year and ten days ago. Interestingly enough, I have a 500+ card trade with Jack sitting in my queue that I promised to review for him just yesterday.
Kismet.
This shop lives up to its name. Spoiler alert.
Yes, we are still continuing......
scroll amendment · 2026-08-23......still continuedAs I was saying, this shop lives up to it's name, and also happens to be in the city I was actually visiting. 5 card shops, across 5 cities, all able to be hit within a 3 hour window......not so bad.
As is my custom, I save a pack and I open a pack. Here's how the opened stuff helped:
nikkigirl ripped the wax and I logged it here. These kinda cards are right up her alley for a variety of reasons. Mostly because I'm a nerd and she loves me as my nerd self.
The unopened packs that remained were packed away in my favorite put stuff I haven't opened yet bag.
PS......did you see my 30 year old gum collection? +2 pieces.
Here's me trying some stuff to see if it works. What if I both sent and received a trade on the same day and completed it here?
Well, it didn't work. I had to make a minor change to a constraint to allow a trade to be both sent and received on the same day.
Anywho, great trade with a first timer - Allison. Small as it was it was well worth it.
The first deal up tonight is the first deal between AJ and I. He came with a strong offer and I was happy to welcome a new partner aboard.
nolan ryan was a stud. There's also that.
While we are going to be mailing it in today, we're still going to be mailing it at the same time.
This is the fifth deal between Jason and I, and this medium sized deal has quite a bit of fun packed inside. I intentionally didn't look at what is coming back so that I can be surprised all over again once it does arrive.
Well struck deal.
We kick off the trade evening (gotta ketchup, regardless of how I feel) with Julio and our fourth deal together.
Two PWE's on the way to a good trade partner who might even need a pick me up. In any case, he's helped me out on my current favorite mission.
It's too bad that I need to sleep; that's a bunch of wasted time.
To also be continued......
scroll amendment · 2026-08-23......also continuedI could go on the hunt inside of this store for days. I'm pretty excited to find out there are so many nice card shops near where I will likely travel to a couple of times a year. The chase!
I came away from this store with two milwaukee related autos, a sick all-star patch, and something like a few dozen serial numbered cards. That was a gold mine that is hardly even tapped at this point.
Plus, binder stuffs!
Next up, we have a hockey centric deal with Kaz, our first. He's got only one feedback record on tcdb and I don't think he had even that one when he first came along.
Point being, trust the process. Trust your fellow man and send him some hockey cards if they ask nicely. 🫠
Here's the thing about 2 day events that require big thinking and travel from a variety of folks are too busy to even be there.....things tend to end early on the second day. Mini-roadtrip!
Here's the thing about Albatross - Kansas City Disc Golf and Sports Cards Shop - it's really a disc golf shop mascarading as a card shop. If I wanted to buy unopened whatever the latest chase was, maybe this store would speak to me. It doesn't and I wouldn't go back.
All the same, they were the only place today that had any World Cup Soccer stickers on hand. the lazer has started to fill out a sticker book, and as the absolute awesomest sticker book affixer that I know, I got the same sticker book that he is obsessed with. I'm going to start my own and also start working on making sure that he completes his before I do.
Great start to today's real adventure (even though it comes with a score that's literally mid).
I have this daughter - let's call her lulu to protect her identity (and because I gaver her that alter ego, day one), and let's say that daughter noted your selfies alway looked like you are surprised. First, you would appreciate she noticed. Second, you would like to point out that there's a bit of that baked into every photo I take.
The photos might be intentionally crooked here. The photos might be rushed because I'm being a weirdo in public with people's eyeballs on me. The photos might just be ugly on purpose. The photos might be a result of me not giving a fuck in the end. As quick as possible, almost as if "surpised".
As an example, this photo is supposed to show the following (if you are me):
At some point in the last seven days I noticed that glenn robinson was not fully loaded in my database (to current standards) and I thought I should fix that. Low and behold, Collector's Cache had an insert that I didn't have yet. Finding a 90's milwaukee bucks insert that I don't have already is both rare and excellent timing for some db work:
As an aside, it's sneaky hard to keep creeping up these big dog standings. For whatever reason, I struggle to keep climbing these charts.
The real W in this store was just the sheer volume of never held before giannis antetokounmpo:
Well, well, well. Over 1000 unique freak cards in the collection after +16 on this mini-roadtrip! Zero to a thousand in less than six years. What a long strange trip it has been.
Plus, I found these 2023-24 Panini NBA Sticker & Card Collection sticker packs that I am super excited to open. First because I'm 88.9% complete in this sticker book, and second because any duplicates that I find in these packs will be funneled to lasz as I turn him onto my favorite NBA sticker book to go along with his soccer book.
The circle of life.
Last deal of the day before I wish that I had Nyquil (just remembered that I don't)......is with with Michael, our first together. He's a veteran of the site so I'm a little surprised we hadn't hooked up before this one.
He came in clutch to help me with a goal that I will start to unveil over time here and there. I'll be interested to see how far I've come from the last time I checked in on this goal. I'll be interested in seeing when I actually do check back in on this goal as well.
Vibes. Sickness and vibes today.
PS......I had to do some trades today so the chart at the bottom of this page didn't get any bright ideas and not show any trade activity.
Phew. I feel better already (not really).
Time is of the essense. All of the following content will be filled in at a future date. I hope you come back here when I direct you to.
Too be continued......
scroll amendment · 2026-08-22......continuedLet's see what we walked away with today:
There's a hell of a lot to unpack in that list. Literally. Plus, binder action!
PS......shout out to illusions.
Speaking of doing my part, my deal with William requires an audible.
I missed two of the cards in our hand delivered deal so here I am mailing my partner some cards anyways.
Well, nikkigirl is going to mail them for me. All of the deals noted today will be shipped by my partner in crime.
What's that? Poland in the house?
A big stuffy PWE on its way across the pond. Another first time partner that is also overseas makes this transaction a special one. Something about making international friends tickles me just a lil bit.
More distraction from the main objectives to begin the day. I suppose the fact that I'm here for distraction from my main goals means that a distraction from the distraction is a good thing. At least inside my tiny brain it is.
I enjoy logging my mistakes just as much as I do my joy.
Like I said, sidetracked on other quests:
The two completed sets above (+1) got tossed into a binder along the side quest path.
A day that takes me where it is already going is a good day indeed.
Before I fell asleep......I chipped away at binders and sets.
That'd be my favorite/best wolverine card.
The clean-up that started two days ago, is mostly completed. There's some literal cleaning I'd like to do, but that's boring and we'll see if I ever getaround to that.
What was actually done:
For the real card show today, please travel with me back in time to my visit at The Art of Sports.
One more trip back in time if you didn't read it during the last time you time traveled, check out for some pack ripping fun!
While my day of travel anxiety was elevated, I managed to sneak in just a bit of card sorting to help me avoid climbing too far inside of myself.
No pictures of the work so you will just have to trust me. See the 2020-21 Upper Deck (Hockey) page for more information as that's still the most relevant snapshot, should you be curious. That set is going to be hard to complete because those YGs are not easy to get ahold of.
Speaking of time travel, I finally got around to finishing the documentation for my visit to The Baseball Card Store.
Quite a fun store.
Busy week.
