Eyes open. It's earlier than is probably ideal, but there are cards to sort. Shorts, shirt, footwear, take a piss, make some coffee, and get to work.

I wanted to call today's chronicle let's start here and then I come here and discover that's a previously tread idea. It would have been a slightly different take on the original, but the rules are the rules. Each chronicle name must be unique. So here we don't work on labor day.

Well, I'm always buzzing around and up to something. Even if I'm not moving a muscle.

We'll channel lil yachty all the same, and check out where I started logging against the next big batch of cards from wiscopullz:

nikkigirl was pretty impressed how quickly I handled and sorted everything from Ethan and becuase of that, basketball is ready to go. ALMOST completed this base set just based on this batch of cards from my boi, but alas, we'll have to trade for that last one.

I might be at this for a bit longer. lulz

I was late to bed, and early to rise. Late late, and early early are good times to find quiet.

The state of this box was an affront to my OCD. These types of situations are often better than they first would seem though. Cards are surprisingly sturdy and the vast majority of these will come out okay.

About mid-morning it was my turn for duty. the gullster and I have a nice routine these days and today was no differnt. A little bit of play, a little bit of wander, and most importantly, all the right love snuggles.

Oh, and I make him watch me play with cardboard. He has learned to indulge me.

Today was our last day with him (lulu & p-funk just picked him up). Tomorrow will be a bit less full of boundless energy.

I've been on a card sorting bender is the real story of the weekend though. I consolidated a few stale ideas into the mix and probably sit with twenty-thousand cards sorted better than they ever have been.

Here's the rough order of operations before I crawl into bed:

1. Group by category (baseball, basketball, football, hockey, etc......)
2. Group each category by years
3. Group each year by set
4. Place each set in alphanumeric order
5. Log each sorted set into tcdb

Before we get to starting to dig through the boxes of cards I got from wiscopullz yesterday, there's just a little bit of cleanup first.

First, I logged some cards that someone in the house left on the kitchen counter for me at some point. If it was you, report yourself in the comments. 🫠

Next was a few stragglers from the puzzle box(es) I cleaned up.

It's gonna be a lot of work to sort the latest batch from wiscopullz.

I've already started and stopped, flipped and flopped, while trying to figure out the best place to start. Large sweeping decisions are all we've got this early in the game.

First, bucket by category (baseball, basketball, football, etc.) and then break down into years.

After that......we'll worry about that far ahead once it gets here.

Last deal of the day is what triggered all of it to begin. Trades were behind, simple as that.

I've been sitting on this auto for awhile wondering when someone would snag it. Happy to help out Jack in our second deal together.

Any deals with an autograph automatically adds a little spice to the mix.

This next deal with Clay fell through the cracks of my process and ended up sitting there for over three weeks! Eek.

That said, as our eighteen deal together leaves the door, I'm pretty confident we have built up enough goodwill for a delay here or there to get in the way of a good time.

Before we get to the fun of sorting, logging, and othewise discovering what is in the four boxes of cards I just acquired......is more puzzle action. The last puzzle action (for now).

This puzzle business might be coming to an end (for now). I'm kinda ready for it to come to an end honestly. I might have boxed myself in when I told you what happens when i get bored though. Can't give up now; I suppose.

I played with glue today for the first time in a long time and forgot that I can't let the puzzle settle in the same spot it was glued......and the back is now all jacked up. I have a literal backup set if I need, but still.

Accepting failure builds character so we will chalk that up as a win.

Speaking of wins: I just sent an email off to tha homie after he gave nikkigirl and I the best mail day. Mayhaps ever.

That bad boy might could be a one-of-one (as yet confimed). We'll find a prominent spot for it and I very much appreciate how well our houses pass joy back and forth.

wu-tang is for the children.

As for the cardboard addiction, I continue on this longer than anticipated baseball journey. This begets that, and from there, you are knee deep in puzzle pieces trying to figure out how to put it all together.

When I got home, I wasn't sure what I'd get myself into. Turns out, it was mostly puzzles. Tiny baseball ones.

For these sports card puzzles, I like to complete the set twice: once so I can put it together and slap some glue on it, and another to hold the completed puzzle in card form.

My puzzle stuff like this is all over the place. Enough of that! Let's clean it up.

It's an international kind of day. An international bricks kind of day. If you followed that link, you'll find the same trade partner playing a role in both posts. Besides that coinkydink, this is the eighteenth deal with Nathan so you already know he's GOAT level.

This is a hell of a brick about to go to war in the postal service systems. I have confidence it will win the war and show up as expected for a respeccted trade partner on the other end.

I almost always feel like I'm behind on trades. Some partner somewhere is left waiting. It's probably an overgrown concern, and yet a constant concern all the same.

All that to say, it's my fourth deal with Dan, and Dan has the extra sizzle attached in that he's from New Zealand.

As a dedicated trader, I can assure you that New Zealand doesn't show up all that often.

Glad to help an international partner all day, err day.

One of the things that mr. fern gully needs to learn is that life isn't all about him. It's a lesson we could all use a good reminder of every now and again, but that's another story for another time.

Point being, we came to agreement that he would be a good boi and I would make a Topps binder.

I'm pretty sure I picked up a wolverine action figure the same day I picked up this binder from Walmart. Good marketing and a perfectly sized binder.

For those with a sharp eye, the eye perhaps - you'll note a decent batch of fun in that base set.

Part of me expressing my boredom is to seek it out. Keep going. Keep trying some stuff. Keep trying some stuff until I'm so bored I can't keep going. Keep going beyond that.

Today's mission: Just shy of 2,000 Topps basketball cards. Well, maybe like 1600 because I processed a bunch last night too.

While that doesn't show as completed, this set is now completed at the basic level. There's twenty-five variations that I might never snag even one of, so for all intents and purposes, this set is completed. Shouts to wiscopullz for hooking me up with a bleep ton of these Topps cards.

I had to finish these tonight. Touching, sorting, sleaving, tcdb logging, and otherwise doing anything two thousand times is a bit liberating. Empty.

To recharge, I'll sort through a thousand or so Topps cards. That'll have to continue tomorrow though.
